Never content to do just one thing at a time
Ethel Red began in 2008, while I was still studying Jewellery Design. With the ultimate goal being to make a bit of extra money to assist in buying tools, I started making simple pieces of jewellery to sell. Not content with that, a cooperative was formed with three other jewellers. The cooperative known as Red Handed Jewellery participated in a number of local design markets regularly through the years. This proved to be a valuable place to get feedback from customers and learn more about what people wanted. From small beginnings on a bench tucked in a corner at home, with limited tools and materials my little dream is getting bigger every day.
Now ten years on Ethel Red has grown and changed. I am currently employed full time in the wonderful John Miller Design workshop where i have the pleasure of creating unique jewellery on a daily basis. I am still doing two things at a time but with a much better equipped home studio In a sleepy seaside town, I am inspired to create beautiful pieces, drawing from the world around me. As a working jeweller and qualified gemmologist i have the pleasure of using silver, gold and beautiful natural gemstones in my pieces. Explore my studio and my current work here or come and visit the beautiful South Western Australia and try something on at John Miller Design.
